I don't think that it has been so easy to dress stylishly for so little since the 60s when Biba was the cash-strapped girls' best trend. I just bought Zara cigarette pants - sooo on trend - for £19.99, a khaki safari-esque jacket for £19.99, a very Balmain khaki tunic from Warehouse at £20 and Twenty8Twelve cream jeans for £29.99 (were £249) at TK Max.
With the economy as tight as Elle MacPherson's shiny black trousers - and the highstreet shops as hot as she must have been - it has never been a better time to look fab and pay very little. You kind of don't mind paying out 20 quid for great wardrobe updates. And even 5 times 20 quid is only £100 - and practically a whole wardrobe for the price of a sleeve in a Bond Street designer store.
Not a great time, though to be an indie in fashion retail...
