Looking Cool
Just back from very glamorous wedding in Seville where the noon time temperatures hit 50 degrees. The wedding was at 9pm when it was (a little) cooler. All the Spanish guests had brought fans and were flapping them like manic bird wings - which at least meant the air was circulating. How could I forget that one essential accessory?
The dress code was "long" for women which, with so many maxis around, was an easy call. You'd think. Quite hard though not to look too beachy or too glam. I found the perfect silver decorated blue silk dress from Warehouse which, good news, I bought with 25 per cent off cos many of the silver discs and beads had fallen off. Bad news, I had to spend ages sewing them on. Twenty yr old daughter, Loulou bought devine floral patterned layered chiffon strapless dress from River Island. Very Chanel-esque. She nearly swapped it for the butterly print version. Thank the fashion god that she didn't as her Irish cousin, around three times removed, was wearing it.
We all wore heels for the glam factor - but Loulou and I brought flat thongy sandals for later (which meant taking a not very glam beachy bag to the church and reception). Ended up lending my sandals to another guest whose feet became too swollen to wear her heels. At around 4am I took Loulou's flats leaving her to keep dancing until 7am on her high wedges.
It's definitely an age thing....
